Assessment may be useful after an injury or stroke, alongside chronic illness, when work errors increase, or when the person or family notices changes in memory, behaviour or organisation.
What may be assessed
Attention, processing speed, memory, language, planning and problem solving can be examined. Results are interpreted in relation to everyday and occupational demands.
When urgent medical care comes first
Sudden speech problems, one-sided weakness, altered consciousness, a severe acute headache or rapid deterioration require urgent medical care.
