How to explain the visit
Use simple language: the specialist will talk, play and offer tasks. Do not promise a reward for a 'good result' or rehearse correct answers.
Before the appointment
Keep sleep and meals as normal as possible. Bring glasses, hearing aids and any aids used regularly. Do not change medication unless the prescribing clinician advises it.
Useful things to bring
- previous medical and psychological reports
- school observations or reports
- notebooks and samples of written work
- a current medication list
